'Happiness, while desired by all humans, is notoriously hard to attain. We initially planned to make a feature length documentary to investigate this fundamental issue. To cover the subject fully, hours and hours of film would be required. Our solution is to focus on moments. On individuals and their unique ways of finding happiness. An African American who distributes food in the subway. An 80 year old woman who binds everyone in the community through her humanity. A woman who had to give up dance and found happiness in playing the saw. While we are still working on producing a feature length version, the short pieces which form its core will work on a variety of platforms, in particular as webseries and other new media content. We saw this project as an opportunity to mentor a young filmmaker, Carl Kriss, who is working under Vern Oakley’s guidance. Carl is a student at Kenyon College and is interested in human issues documentary.
