Zuckerberg’s On-Camera Crash Course

After Mark Zuckerberg’s two-day hearing on Capitol Hill, Facebook shares jumped more than 5 percent–over $4 BILLION.

What happened prior to the hearings?

“Facebook hired a team from the law firm WilmerHale as well as outside consultants to coach Zuckerberg on questions, and on how to pace his answers and react if interrupted…Facebook has also set up mock hearings involving its communications team and outside advisers who role-play members of Congress.”

And he took off his t-shirt and put on a new suit.

This is an instance where substantial preparation prior to a stressful on-camera performance by a CEO led directly to a significant jump in stock price.

Preparation may be obvious for a congressional hearing. But how your leaders present themselves on-camera demands preparation, and should be high priority–even in the day-to-day.
